Beats

Kevin Rolland: Résilience

Project overview

It was an absolute honour to co-direct Kevin Roland's story.

His passion for being in the air and winning at the highest level of freestyle skiing had brought him to the challenge of his life. He had always dreamed of breaking the quarter-pipe world record for vertical air. It was now or never.

With the birth of his first child just days away and the weather closing in, the window of opportunity to break the record was getting smaller.

Originally, our plan was to create a short 3-minute brand film for Beats capturing the successful record attempt, but destiny had a different idea.

A catastrophic mistake in the air nearly cut short the life of one of skiing's greats. Three days after emerging from a coma KR vowed to ski again. Hell bent on making it to the Winter Olympics.

Our documentary, now a feature-length film, became the story of one man's unstoppable spirit to walk, ride, and take to the air once more.

Thank you, KR, for allowing us to share your remarkable story.
